THE FULL STORY
The lead singers of Dancing Queens: The ABBA Celebration met years ago in Las Vegas, singing songs of ABBA in a touring tribute band based out of London, where Kirbi Long swung roles of Agnetha and Frida, and Amy the role of Frida. They fell in love with ABBA's music, and became fast friends while touring the U.S. together for many years. Both Amy and Kirbi share the bond of motherhood and decided to slow down their busy touring lives post-Covid and focus on their growing families. However, they missed performing together, and decided it was time to take the stage together again.
"I wanted to create a show where we could be ourselves while still sharing the true spirit of ABBA," says Long, "and I wanted it to feel somewhat candid, an honest conversation with each other and the audience. In order to do this successfully, I decided we would play ourselves rather than a typical tribute show where you are playing a role of an actual band member. We've tapped into our close friendship to interpret and present their biggest hits a little differently than a technical tribute show, and I am so proud of the result. The show is completely female led, with Amy and I being the only singers in the show. The intent was to showcase the power of two female voices when paired with intention. Amy and I blend well after years of singing in all sorts of shows and bands together and our different vocal ranges- Amy is more of the alto and I am more of the soprano. The show is a LOT of fun, lots of dancing and singing along, but there are a lot of wonderful intimate moments as well where you get a glimpse not only into the heart of the music, but the friendship that we have shared over the years singing these incredible songs. It's funny, we have both performed together in countless shows, acts, bands, etc., but the music of ABBA inevitably became our passion. It pulls you in and leaves you wanting more. We hope ABBA would be proud too. We feel so honored to perform their music."
